Let’s work together
At Pontiac Group, we think of ourselves as “ally-identifiers”. With our expertise in corporate community liaison services, we bring business and Indigenous groups together to create opportunity.
A spirit of unification
The Pontiac Group is 100% Anishinaabe owned and inspired, and it is from that perspective that we help Indigenous Nations partner with business to create sustainable economic activity.
Co-Founder Jonathon Araujo is a band member of Wikwemikong First Nation (unceded), as Marten Clan kin of that community and also a natural citizen of the Odawa and larger Anishinabek Nation. Jonathon has two collegial diplomas from Humber College, and continues to study Economics at York. Jonathon has extensive experience in business and finance with corporate Canada, as well as community outreach in entrepreneurship and business development.
Founder Jacob Taylor is a band member of Curve Lake (Reserve #35), an Otter Clan kin of that community and also natural citizen of the Mississauga and larger Anishinabek Nation. Jacob has a Masters Degree in First Nations Policy Leadership from Western University, and also a Bachelors of Health Science from the same alma mater. Jacob is a published author in Indigenous Outreach and has an extensive background of study and practice performing corporate liaison services with First Nations.
From the spirit of our ancestors, we light our way forward
Since 2013, our Group has united the interests of Indigenous and Settler business in the spirit of Chief Pontiac, who, while known for his warrior prowess, was selected as our namesake for his vision of collectivized Indigenous people supporting each other in trade, education, health, politics, and life.
